crime scene notice

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a murder that left a man dead and a woman injured.

Officers were called to a strip mall in the area of 19th Avenue and Bell Road around 4:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

When they got there, the officers located a man on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was later identified as 18-year-old Miguel Rosas. Officers were also directed to a woman inside one of the business who had been struck by gunfire. The fire department responded and pronounced Rosas deceased on scene. The woman was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

The Air Unit and other responding patrol units searched the area and detained three individuals. The three individuals were interviewed and later released.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene where they spoke to witnesses and reviewed the evidence. Preliminary information suggests there was an exchange of gunfire between a few individuals in the strip mall parking lot. It is believed Rosas was an intended target and the woman was uninvolved and struck by the reckless gunfire.
