Shooting In West Phoenix Leaves One Dead

Phoenix Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near 59th Avenue and McDowell Road involving three males. One man suffered a gunshot wound and died on scene. The other two men were eventually found and arrested.

Yesterday evening at about 6:30 p.m., on September 13, 2022, Phoenix police were called to the area of 59th Avenue and McDowell Road for a shooting in the parking lot. Officers arrived and found one adult male, who was later identified as Jesus Gonzalez Berrelleza suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on scene. Officers began reviewing video surveillance from surrounding businesses. Intelligence was gathered and officers immediately began following up on leads.

While working on information gathered, officers found and arrested one adult male who was identified as Gilberto Millan. The second suspect identified as a teenage male was arrested at a separate location.

Early information indicates there was an argument involving Jesus, an unknown male, and Gilberto at a restaurant. At some point the teenaged male arrived at the location. Gilberto retrieves a firearm from the vehicle driven by the teenage male. The shooting occurs, and Gilberto and the teenage male leave the area.

Gilberto was booked into jail for first degree murder. The teenage male was detained at the Juvenile Correction Center for facilitation to commit first degree murder.
