Phoenix Man Identified And Booked On Weapons Charge After Officer Involved Shooting

The suspect in a an officer involved shooting in Phoenix that occurred last week has been identified as Isaiah Ries Manning. Manning has been released from the hospital and was booked into Maricopa County Jail for weapons charges.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on September 22nd, around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in the area of 31st Avenue and Greenway Road. Officers received information that Manning who lived at a home in the area was making unusual statements and left the home, on foot, with multiple weapons. Officers also received information that a shot was heard, shortly after he left.

Officers saw Manning in the area of 2500 West Greenway Road in the parking lot of a convenience store, holding what appeared to be a pistol magazine, and gave him commands to stop. Manning ignored the commands and continued to the front door of the store, which was occupied by employees and patrons. This is when the officer involved shooting occurred.

Officers developed a plan to safely get the occupants out of the store and contact Manning, who was on the floor. Manning was taken into custody and was transported to a local hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. A weapon was recovered from the scene.
