Phoenix police detectives responded to 27th Street and Baseline Road to investigate a fatal traffic collision that left one person dead.
This evening just before 5:00 p.m. on October 12, 2022, Phoenix police responded to a call of a vehicle collision in the area of 27th Street and Baseline Road. Two vehicles appeared to be involved in a collision. An adult male driver, later identified as George Ybarra, was pronounced deceased on scene by fire personnel. The driver of the other vehicle was an adult female who was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives responded to take over the investigation. Preliminary information indicates the vehicle driven by Mr. Ybarra was going west on Baseline and collided into the rear of the female driver’s vehicle which was stopped in traffic. There were no signs of impairment by the adult female driver.
