Phoenix Police Investigating Deadly 4 Vehicle Collision, Impairment Suspected

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that left a woman dead. Four vehicles were involved but only one man went to the hospital.

Phoenix Police officers responded to a call of a serious vehicle collision around 7:05 p.m. near 45th Avenue and Thomas Road. When officers arrived, they found four vehicles in the roadway.

Witnesses told officers a silver passenger car was making a left turn from a private drive onto westbound Thomas Road and crashed into a white pickup truck that was heading eastbound on Thomas Road. The truck was pushed into oncoming traffic and crashed with a gold colored SUV that was westbound on Thomas Road. There was also a silver SUV westbound on Thomas Road that was sideswiped by the Gold SUV.

The driver of the silver passenger car was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The passenger of the silver passenger car died from her injuries on scene. No other serious injuries were reported.

The driver of the silver passenger car showed signs of intoxication and a blood sample was collected after detectives obtained a search warrant.
