Phoenix Police Detectives Investigate Road Rage Shooting That Left 8-Year-Old Injured

Two people are at local hospitals in critical condition after a road rage incident in the intersection of 1600 East Greenway Parkway. One of the victims being treated received a gunshot wound and has been identified as an 8-year-old child.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at about 11:00 a.m. officers responded to a shooting in the area of 1600 East Greenway Parkway. As officers got there, they found a child suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical care was provided to the victim, and she was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Two other adult men were taken to local hospitals, one suffering non-life-threatening injuries, the other in critical condition suffering from stab wounds.

Officers learned that a road rage incident between two vehicles occurred in the area of 16th Street and Grovers Avenue. The driver of one vehicle, identified as a 48-year-old male, followed the other vehicle occupied with three people to the area of 16th Street and Greenway Parkway. The first driver got out of his car and began to fight in the roadway with the driver of the second vehicle who also got out of his car.

During the fight, the second driver, identified as a 28-year-old man, had stabbed the other driver then began to drive away from the area. The 48-year-old man then pulled out a handgun and began to shoot at the vehicle driving away with three occupants inside. The 8-year-old child was sitting in the back of the car and was struck by a bullet that left her in critical condition.
