Phoenix Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near 67th Avenue and Thomas Road that left Leonel Pineda-Valdez, age 27, dead.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on Sunday night, just after 11:00 p.m. on October 30, 2022 Phoenix police responded to a call of a shooting near 67th Avenue and Thomas Road. Officers arrived and found one adult male, who was later identified as Leonel Pineda-Valdez suffering from gunshot wounds while in the driver seat of a vehicle. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
Detectives believe the shooting took place behind a business on the northwest corner of the intersection. After the shooting, Pineda-Valdez drove away and crashed into a nearby fence.
Details about what led up to the shooting are still under investigation.
