Kelly Locks In Lead, Hobbs Edge Grows

Election observers are largely in agreement that there is no viable path to victory for Blake Masters in the race for U.S. Senator after the latest batch of votes was reported by Maricopa County. The batch had been expected to slightly favor Republicans but actually added to Democrat totals.

Democrat Katie Hobbs also extended her lead over Republican Kari Lake to over 31,000 votes, but with so many votes remaining that race is too close to call.

Maricopa County unofficial results were updated late Friday.

The County says they now estimate that the count is 82 percent complete.

Updated results show 1,290,669 ballots have been counted, which represents 53 percent of total eligible voters. This was an additional 74,951 ballots, the majority of which were dropped off on Election Day.

There are an estimated 265,000-275,000 remaining ballots in Maricopa County. Below is the breakdown:

  • Estimated Election Day ballots to be reported: 5,000
  • Estimated early ballots left to process and tabulate: 254,000
  • Estimated number of early ballots left to cure: 13,000
  • Estimated provisional ballots left to research: 1,114 (7,885 total)
