Phoenix police detectives investigate a fatal collision involving 6-year-old Julius Rainbolt, who was walking to school with his father.
In the early morning hours on December 8, 2022, Phoenix police responded to a call of a vehicle collision involving two pedestrians.
Detectives learned that Julius and his dad were walking westbound crossing 27th Avenue midblock. While attempting to cross the street, an adult male driver traveling southbound on 27th Avenue just south of Camelback Road had struck both individuals.
The driver stayed on scene and was evaluated for impairment; however, no indications were seen.
Julius was taken to a local hospital where he did not survive from his injuries.
