Transgendered Woman And Man Dead In Knife Versus Gun Battle In South Phoenix

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating an incident that occurred inside a vehicle stopped in a south Phoenix neighborhood that left a transgendered woman, Caelee Lovelight, and a man, Javin Casillias, dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were dispatched to an unknown trouble call in a neighborhood near 23rd Avenue and Baseline Road. When officers arrived, they were directed to a car where they found Casillias, age 47, with serious injuries and Lovelight, age 27, unresponsive.

“Detectives believed the victims were in a physical altercation with each other where Lovelight was shot and Casillias was stabbed,” said Sergeant Phil Krynsky in a press release.

Casillias was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Lovelight was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives say there is no information indicating a suspect is outstanding.
