Phoenix police detectives are investigating a fatal rollover.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to the area of 4000 West Peoria Avenue to investigate a vehicle collision after several calls into 911 were placed. Officers responded just after midnight on January 1, 2023, to a two-vehicle collision. Officers found an adult male unresponsive on the scene. Fire personnel responded and pronounced him deceased. Two other subjects involved were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
Investigators learned the first vehicle driven by an adult male and his adult male passenger were westbound on Peoria Avenue. As the vehicle approached the area of 40th Avenue it struck the back of the second vehicle, operated by an adult female. This collision caused the first vehicle to roll over while the second vehicle lost control and struck a block residential fence.
The driver of the first vehicle did display signs of impairment which was fully investigated. The driver of the second vehicle was evaluated for impairment, however investigators did not see any signs of intoxication.
