
Phoenix detectives are investigating a human skull that was found by a hiker in the South Mountain Preserve on January 14, 2023, at about 1:50 p.m.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were called to the South Mountain Park located at 10919 South Central Avenue after a hiker located a human skull. Inspection of the skull showed what appeared to be trauma resulting in detectives with the Phoenix Homicide Bureau taking over the investigation.
Detectives are actively following up on all leads and will continue to work with the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office and Missing persons to identify the victim and any suspect responsible.
