Overnight Collision Leaves Phoenix Man Dead

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian, 38-year-old Barry Casias, that happened late Thursday night in the area of 27th Street and Thomas Road.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on January 19, 2023, Phoenix police responded to 2700 East Thomas Road regarding a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian, identified as Mr. Casias. Mr. Casias did not survive his injuries and was pronounced on scene by the Phoenix Fire Department.

The vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene.

Detectives responded to take over the investigation. Preliminary information indicates that Casias was in the roadway near the intersection of 27th Street and Thomas Road when he was struck by the vehicle involved. The adult male driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

Impairment is believed to be a factor. The specific location of Mr. Casias at the time of the crash is pending the collision reconstruction.
