Suspected Killer Of Phoenix Couple Killed In Police Shootout In Kansas

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a double homicide that happened this weekend in the area of 51st Avenue and Warner Street.

On January 22, 2023, just after 1:00 p.m. Phoenix police officers responded to an injured person call near 5100 West Warner Street.  When officers arrived, they located two adults who had been fatally shot. The victims were identified as 28-year-old Cameron Brown and 27-year-old Asya Ribble. Their two small children were located inside the house unharmed and uninjured.

Homicide detectives responded to investigate the incident. As the investigation progressed detectives identified an adult male as a suspect.  It was also learned that an adult female was likely with the suspect. The man and woman were tracked out of the state.  Phoenix detectives contacted agencies nationwide, with information about the man and woman along with the case explanation.

Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office located the man and woman near Minneola, Kansas based on the information disseminated by Phoenix police.  A confrontation occurred between law enforcement and the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Leroy Malone, resulting in an officer involved shooting.

According to KAKE-ABC, three Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies were wounded and a suspect has died following a shootout in Dodge City on Monday morning. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation told KAKE-ABC that the male suspect was fatally shot. A woman in his vehicle was also shot and is in critical condition at a Wichita hospital.
