Coolidge Police Arrest 4 Teens For Deadly Drive-By Shooting

Coolidge Police Department officers have arrested four people responsible for the drive by shooting that resulted in the death of 14-year-old Miyka Crawford at 12:24 a.m. on January 19th 2023.

On Tuesday, January 24th Derrick Manuel, age 19, and a male juvenile 17, both of Gilbert was also arrested at the same residence. On Wednesday, a female juvenile, age 14 was arrested in Casa Grande at a family member’s home. The last suspect, a 15 year old male, of Laveen, was arrested also on Wednesday in Scottsdale.

Manuel is being held in the Pinal County Jail and all of the juveniles have or will be booked into the Pinal County Juvenile Detention Facility. Charges of First Degree Murder, Drive by Shooting, and multiple counts of Aggravated Assault are being requested against all four occupants of the vehicle.

“From the minute the Coolidge Police Department received this call we never stopped working to find justice for our victims,” Coolidge Chief of Police Harry Grizzle stated. “Every law enforcement agency we contacted assisted us without hesitation and full support of their resources. With the combination of technology, corroborated information sharing, and excellent interviewing skills this case was resolved quickly. This incident was a senseless and tragic event that should have never happened. We can only hope that by taking these four suspects off the streets that Miyka’s family will find some sort of comfort and peace.”

“First and foremost our heartfelt prayers go out to the family and friends of Miyka Crawford who was tragically killed inside her home last week during this brutal and careless drive-by shooting,” said Coolidge Mayor Jon Thompson. “Through the diligent and tireless investigations led by our Chief of Police, the professional law enforcement personnel of the Coolidge Police Department, and partnering agencies, the perpetrators who brought this evil act into our community from elsewhere have been apprehended and will be brought to justice.”
