On December 3, 2022 at 6:55 p.m., Chandler police were dispatched to a report of a woman not breathing in the 2000 block of West Lemon Tree. When police arrived, officers a 23-year-old woman deceased.
The initial investigation determined that the victim’s boyfriend, Jesus Gonzalez, 23-years-old, was aware of her death and failed to report it to authorities. He was arrested on the charge of failure to report her death, a class two misdemeanor.
Detectives were able to determine this was a domestic violence homicide. Evidence obtained from the autopsy, and additional follow up confirm the victim was killed by Gonzalez.
On January 23, 2023 Gonzales was apprehended and booked on one count of second-degree homicide a class one felony.
