A man accused of sending naked pictures of himself to a Chandler girl in 2015 was arrested in Mexico this month.
According to the Chandler Police Department, in May 2014, the Department received a report of an adult male sending sexually explicit photos to a 14-year-old girl.The suspect, Steven Marquez, was 25-years-old when he solicited nude photographs from the girl he met through his neighbor. Marquez also sent the girl multiple photos of himself while he was in a state of nudity. The photographs were later located on the victim’s phone.
On March 31, 2015, Marquez was arrested by the Chandler Police Department for sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of furnishing harmful items to a minor. His posted bond in 2015 and fled the state of Arizona. A warrant was issued for his arrest.Since then, and throughout 2022, Chandler police continued to investigate the case looking for any information that would lead to Marquez’s whereabouts. With the assistance of the United States Marshals Office, the FBI and local agencies Marquez was located in Juárez Mexico.
Marquez was extradited back to the US where he was booked on the warrant.
