Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Member In Attempted Murder

A Yuma man is in custody in connection to an attempted homicide that occurred on Friday, January 27, 2023.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, a report was received of a shooting disturbance and a victim with a gunshot wound in the 500 Block of S. Vaughn Avenue.

When deputies arrived on the scene, the found a a 31-year-old man, who had apparent gunshot wounds. Rural Metro responded and he was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center.

During the course of the investigation, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) Criminal Investigations Bureau identified Jesus Ibarra-Martinez, 24, as a suspect.

On Friday, February 10, 2023, Yuma Police Department (YPD) Officers saw the suspect at a residence in the 4100 Block of W. 3rd Place, Yuma, AZ and notified YCSO Investigators.

YCSO Investigators responded and made contact with the suspect with the assistance of YPD Officers and YCSO Deputies.

Ibarra-Martinez was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for 2nd Degree Attempted Homicide, three counts of Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapons, Aggravated Assault, two counts of Drive-By Shooting, Disorderly Conduct with Weapons, and other Gang related charges.
