Governor Katie Hobbs has vetoed the budget passed by state lawmakers Thursday afternoon.
A letter released by Governor Hobbs’ office says the budget is “one-sided and “presents Arizonans with false choices.”
Speaker Ben Toma called the budget “responsible,” and “one that was crafted with the needs of the state, and of Arizona’s families in mind, families who are struggling during this economic recession caused by reckless federal overspending and far-left priorities”
“This budget continues the same budget which was approved less than a year ago with a bipartisan majority and was cheered at the time by Governor Hobbs and Democratic Minority Leader Cano,” explained Toma.
The governor’s move immediately drew reactions from both sides of the aisle on social media.
I have vetoed the legislative budget that kicks the can down the road. Arizonans deserve a budget that takes the real issues we are facing seriously. Now, let’s get to work. pic.twitter.com/GwKXX8PUwi

With her veto of a bipartisan budget looks like Katie Hobbs wants a government shutdown – I never knew she was an anarchist!

Apparently, she wants the state to close and Fentanyl to continue pouring over the border. She is NOT working for the citizens of AZ. https://t.co/IcvOaJD7Jd

What “real” issues are those? Free tuition for illegal immigrants? More electric vehicle charging stations? Commuter rail? 🤔 https://t.co/5FNocDimQO

Governor Katie Hobbs just VETOED the Arizona Bipartisan Budget. This budget kept schools open, law enforcement paid, streets maintained, Healthcare in place, & our southern border protected. Instead, she wants $40 million for illegal immigrants to attend Universities.
