Phoenix homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man, Alejandro Jaques, that happened Sunday morning near Bethany Home Road and 27th Avenue.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call in the area of 8000 North 27th Avenue at about 9:57 a.m. on February 26, 2023. When officers got to the scene, they saw a man who turned himself into police, acknowledging his involvement in the shooting.
During this initial investigation, officers learned that Jaques arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He was accompanied by three other men. Jaques was later pronounced deceased at the hospital while the other three individuals were detained relating to the shooting.
Detectives with the Phoenix Police Departments Homicide Bureau responded and took over the investigation. The man involved in this shooting was detained and provided detectives with self-defense statements. The man was later released as this case continues to be investigated.
Once the case is completed, it will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.
