Patty Ortega Files For Glendale City Council

Longtime Glendale resident Patty Ortega has taken out the paperwork required and opened a campaign for the soon-to-be vacant City Council seat in Yucca district.

The district is currently represented by Councilwoman Joyce Clark, who has previously announced that she would not be running for re-election.

Supporters say that small businesses and economic opportunity are in Patty’s DNA. Ortega is a realtor and is involved in real estate development in Glendale. Her husband Mike is a general contractor, and her mother-in-law owns and operates the Federico’s chain of restaurants.

“Glendale has been home to my extended family, my husband Mike was born and raised in Glendale and attended Glendale High School, and it is where we chose to raise our children, start businesses, and get involved with our surrounding community.” said Ortega in announcing her run. “Now it is time to contribute my time and effort to making our entire city everything it can be.”

Ortega looks forward to carrying on the good work being done by the current council and wants to ensure that the progress Glendale is making has a chance to positively impact every resident. “What the Mayor and Council have done over the last decade is nothing short of remarkable, and Glendale is now a leader in job growth and economic opportunity. I will be working to make sure that every resident of Yucca District reaps the benefits of a city that is doing things right.”

While she spoke a great deal about economic growth and jobs, Ortega said that her top priority is public safety, specifically ensuring that Glendale’s Fire and Police have what they need to do their jobs safely. She also mentioned transportation, parks and recreation, and helping the city deal with the homeless population that is growing throughout the valley and making its way into Glendale.
