Three Teens Arrested For Death Of Phoenix Homeowner They Were Robbing

Three teenagers have been arrested for an early morning homicide that happened last Tuesday morning.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on March 14, 2023, just before 1:30 a.m., Phoenix police officers responded to a shooting at a residence in the area of 29th Avenue and Moreland Street. When units arrived, they found a man, identified as 26-year-old Manuel Hinojos, and a teenaged male, both with gunshot wounds.

Hinojos did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The teenager survived his injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to investigate the shooting. Information gathered showed that three teenaged males were committing a burglary at the residence when they were confronted by the owner, Hinojos, who was armed. Two of the teenagers ran away on foot as the third exchanged gunfire with Hinojos.

The teenager located and arrested on scene was booked on the day of the incident. The teenager that was transported to the hospital was booked after being released from medical care. The final teenager involved was located and arrested as part of the ongoing investigation. All three suspects were referred to the Juvenile Correction Center.
