Woman Falls To Her Death On Bluffs Above West Clear Creek

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office

Just before 4pm on March 27th, a call came into the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office from a woman stating her friend, Jennifer Petri, 44, had fallen 20 feet off a cliff and was no longer visible.

The area is known to the locals as “The Bluffs” and is approximately 200 feet above West Clear Creek.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) called out multiple volunteer resources as well as Fire and a DPS Ranger helicopter to assist in finding the victim. The terrain was steep and dangerous, making it difficult for rescuers to conduct for a search.

Deputies using binoculars were able to visually locate the victim who was at the base of a cliff just above the water edge.

The DPS Ranger helicopter was able to drop off a trooper to assess Jennifer’s condition, and determined she was deceased. The victim was airlifted out of the canyon.

Details of how the victim fell to her death are being investigation by YCSO detectives.
