Man Dead In Phoenix After Driving Into Oncoming Traffic

Phoenix police detectives are investigating an early morning collision that left a man dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on April 9, just after 3:00 a.m. officers responded to a call of a two-vehicle collision near 15th Avenue and Peoria Avenue. Two adult passengers inside a pickup truck were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 46-year-old Matthew Heard, was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Early information indicates Heard was driving east on Peoria Avenue and veered into oncoming westbound lanes and struck a pickup truck. The driver of the truck showed signs and symptoms of impairment. He was processed for DUI, cited, and released.
