A man was shot and killed after he entered the victim’s home near 7th Street and Portland Street On Easter.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on Sunday, April 9, 2023 just before 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting near 7th Street and Portland Street. The caller said that a man entered his home uninvited and he shot the man. Officers arrived and found a man suffering a gunshot wound in the homeowner’s third-story bedroom. The man did not survive. The homeowner remained on scene.
Detectives believe the man unlawfully entered the homeowner’s residence, made threats, and continued to aggressively approach the homeowner. The homeowner discharged a firearm striking the man and called police.
There have been no arrests in this case. The investigation continues to be ongoing.
The case will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review once the investigation has been completed.
