Scottsdale Police Identify Domestic Violence Suspect Killed In Office Involved Shooting

A suspect who was armed and shot at police is dead after an officer involved shooting on April 16 at around 6:50 p.m., in the 8300 block of E. Cypress Street in Scottsdale.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, officers responding to a domestic disturbance between the suspect, Isaiah A. Curtis, and an ex-girlfriend, who was dropping him off at an address on Cypress.

The ex-girlfriend told dispatch Curtis was armed with a gun. A gun was recovered next to Curtis. No other community members were injured in the officers involved were not hurt.

At 6:50 p.m., officers arrived and contacted Curtis in front of a residence and saw that he was armed with a pistol. Curtis ignored verbal commands from officers and ended up shooting at police.

In response, both officers fired their duty weapons, striking Curtis who collapsed in the driveway at the residence. Officers moved up to Curtis to begin life-saving efforts.

Curtis did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:10 a.m.
