Phoenix police detectives are investigating a collision near 18th Street and Northern Avenue that left one man dead.
On April 20, 2023 just before 10:45 p.m., Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 1800 East Northern Avenue for a collision involving two vehicles, both of which rolled over. When officers arrived, they located both vehicles and the adult male drivers. Both men were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One man sustained minor injuries and was released. The other man, identified as 24-year-old Jason Macedo Santana, did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Detectives believe both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Northern Avenue when they collided and went off road on the south side of Northern Avenue. Both vehicles rolled over before coming to rest.
Speed appears to be a factor in the collision.
