Phoenix Police Investigating Deadly Head On Collision

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a collision that happened Monday afternoon that left a woman dead.

Monday at 1:45 p.m., officers responded to a call of a collision involving a head on collision involving two vehicles. One of the drivers, identified as 41-year-old Crystal Conover died on scene after the vehicle she was driving caught fire. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe that prior to the crash Conover was involved in a family altercation. Before the collision, Conover was going east on Thunderbird Road in the westbound lanes and collided head on with a truck. Conover was involved in at least one other collision prior to this crash. Impairment is unknown.

The investigation remains ongoing.
