On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at approximately 12:03 a.m., a single-vehicle fatal collision occurred on westbound Interstate 10 at milepost 331 (junction with US 191), near Willcox.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), for unknown reasons, a tractor-trailer traveled off of the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and collided with a support pillar for the overpass at US 191. The tractor-trailer was fully engulfed in flames, and the overpass pillar buckled.
There were no hazardous materials associated with this collision.
Identification of the deceased and the trucking company are pending, according to AZDPS.
Westbound I-10 is closed at the New Mexico state line.
