Sheriffs, Border Patrol agents, and local officials in Arizona are bracing for the surge expected as Title 42 comes to an end.

“Field reports from agents across the southern border verify the enormity of this tidal wave of illegal aliens coming now. Huge groups are overwhelming stations and it is completely out of control. Massive releases beginning and it’s going to get much worse,” tweeted the National Border Patrol Council. “Thanks Biden.”

On Wednesday, Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone, Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes and Coconino County Sheriff Chief Deputy Bret Axlund held a joint press conference outlining their concerns and what they can do to ensure the safety of Arizonans.

All three sheriffs were critical of the Biden administration’s handling of the border.

“The failure to properly address issues of unlawful immigration on our border bleeds into communities throughout the state, throughout the nation and adversely affects our ability to provide public safety for our community,” said Penzone.

“If the federal government doesn’t want to enforce their law, our message to the people of Arizona is that the Arizona sheriff’s will enforce the law, and if you break a state law, we will hold you accountable,” said Lamb.

“This experiment, whatever it was, has failed us,” said Rhodes.

Under Title 42, U.S. agencies were allowed to turn away migrants at the border in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Despite admonishments from members of Congress and some state and local officials, President Joe Biden announced Title 42 would end on May 11.

Tens of thousands of illegal aliens are gathering in Mexico ready to flood into the U.S. on Thursday. The flood of humanity is expected to sap resources that are already strained by the constant flow of aliens crossing into the United States illegally.
