Teen Shot And Killed In Phoenix Park

A teenaged male, Hery Almeida-Garcia, was shot and killed by an unknown suspect while at a local park near 16th Street and Wescott Drive.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call in the area of 16th Street and Wescott Drive on Friday night at about 8:48 p.m. on May 12, 2023. When officers got to the scene, they found 17-year-old Henry Almeida-Garcia suffering from a gunshot wound. Phoenix Fire personnel arrived and took the victim to a local hospital where he did not survive his injuries.

Detectives with the Phoenix Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation and learned that Hery was with friends and were confronted by an unknown suspect. The suspect left the area after shooting the victim. The suspect remains outstanding.
