Teen Killed In Morning Collision, Suspect Charged With Manslaughter

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a collision that occurred on Monday morning that left a teenage boy dead.

On May 14, 2023 just after 8:00 a.m., officers responded to a call of a collision involving two vehicles.

Early information indicates a pickup truck was going south on 31st Street and failed to stop at a stop sign at Greenway Road and entered eastbound lanes while going west. The pickup truck collided into a vehicle that was occupied by a family consisting of two adults and five juvenile children. The two adults and five children were transported to the hospital. One child died as a result of his injuries at the hospital. The driver of the truck remained on scene and showed signs of impairment.

The driver of the truck, Bartolome Godinez-Perez, was booked into jail on various offenses including manslaughter and DUI.
