Phoenix Police Investigating Deadly Motorcycle Collision

Phoenix police are investigating a collision involving a motorcycle that left one man dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on May 24, 2023, just before 5:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of 45th Street and Broadway Road regarding a collision involving a motorcycle. When officers arrived, they located the motorcycle rider, identified as 23-year-old Gilberto Enrique Magdalena, with serious injuries.

Magdalena did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. There were two vehicles involved in the collision, both of which remained on scene.

Detectives believe that Magdalena was riding his motorcycle westbound on Broadway Road when he was struck by a vehicle exiting a private drive and turning westbound onto Broadway Road. Magdalena was thrown into the eastbound lanes where he was struck by another vehicle traveling on the roadway.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
