The suspect in an officer involved shooting, Melissa Ann Larue, has been arrested.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on May 22, 2023, around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of 35th Avenue
and Glendale Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle. When officers got to the area, they located the vehicle described and attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield to the officers and took off.

There, an officer deployed a grappler and immobilized the vehicle just north of Phelps Road. Officers gave Larue, who was driving the vehicle several commands, which she ignored. Larue then produced a handgun and pointed it in the direction of an officer. It was at that time that three officers discharged their firearms.

After the shooting, the 40-year-old Larue began to obey commands.

She was transported to a local hospital and after she was released from the hospital she was booked for multiple charges to include aggravated assault.
