Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has had a rough time getting her appointees to run state agencies through the nomination process, but on Thursday a Senate Committee recommended the whole Senate approve the appointment of Susan Nicolson for the position of Commissioner for the Department of Real Estate.

Nicolson, who was appointed to the agency by Hobbs on February 21st, secured the strong support of Senate Republicans serving on the Committee for Director Nominations.

In a press release, Republicans noted that Nicolson “displayed her honest and straightforward approach with members of the committee, her commitment to following state law while administering necessary government duties, as well as a vision of customer service, innovation and efficiency for the agency.”

“Ms. Nicolson did an exceptional job during the confirmation process. She conducted herself in a professional, direct and enthusiastic manner, which I greatly appreciate,” said Chairman Jake Hoffman. “Our vetting of Ms. Nicolson revealed she is highly qualified, free from partisan political agendas and outside influence, and she genuinely wants to serve citizens of this great state. She had glowing remarks from the public. Her qualifications and experience are exactly what are needed within this role. Ms. Nicolson is a prime example of the type of candidate that should be appointed to our state agencies by Katie Hobbs.”

Nicolson’s appointment will go before the entire Senate body for a final vote at a later date.
