Phoenix police continue to investigate a shooting in the east valley that left 27-year-old Kenneth Lemons dead.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on June 16, 2023, around 10:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of 1600 North
51st Street regarding shots fired being heard inside of a nearby residence. When officers arrived, they found an adult female with serious but non-life threatening injuries near the home along with an adult male who was detained.
Officers entered the home and found Mr. Lemons with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
The woman was treated on scene by the Phoenix Fire Department for her injuries.
Detectives believe that Lemons was involved in an argument with both the man and woman who were located near the residence. During this argument, both Lemons and the other man were armed with firearms. It was while the argument was taking place that the shooting occurred. The man and woman were released at the conclusion of the initial stages of this investigation.
The case will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review when the investigation is complete.
