Man Charged After Shooting At Phoenix Police Officers

A Maricopa County grand jury has indicted Martin Joseph Oliver for breaking into an apartment near downtown Phoenix and barricading himself inside in early June. Immediately prior to that he had shot at officers during a standoff near Seventh Avenue and McDowell Road.

Oliver has been charged with 17 felony counts.

Those charges include ten counts of aggravated assault, class two dangerous felonies; one count of burglary in the first degree, a class two dangerous felony; five counts of disorderly conduct, class six dangerous felonies; and one count of misconduct involving weapons, a class four felony.*

Oliver was arrested and booked into jail on June 4, 2023.

During the initial court appearance, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office argued that the defendant be held without bond. The court agreed.
