Phoenix detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in a west Phoenix neighborhood. The victim, Malik Hillman, was taken by witnesses to a local hospital where died from his injuries.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were dispatched to a call of a shooting near 60th Lane and Virginia Avenue. When they arrived the located casings in the area, but no victims were found. Later, a call came in of a walk-in gunshot wound victim at a local hospital. The 20-year-old Hillman received medical treatment at the hospital but later died from his injuries.
Detectives learned there was an exchange of gunfire involving suspects in two different vehicles. Both vehicles drove off after the shooting. Currently, no suspects are in custody.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness if they wish to remain anonymous.
