On July 5, 2023, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested and booked 37-year-old Anthonie Ruinard for the suspected murder of 18-year-old Parker League. Parker League’s body was found in a bonfire pile at Bulldog Canyon, which is part of the Tonto National Forest last month.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, detectives obtained video footage from multiple locations where Parker’s to bank card was being used after he was discovered deceased. Video footage from an Arco gas station in Chandler, on June 11th showed Parker and the suspect, Anthonie leaving the store together in a black Dodge Challenger. This was the last time detectives had Parker on video alive.

Detectives served a search warrant on Anthonie’s house and sized multiple items.

While processing the Dodge Challenger, detectives located forensic evidence in the trunk, which was tested using a Rapid DNA resulting in a positive match for Parker’s DNA. Due to this and additional evidence collected, detectives arrested and booked Ruinard on one count of first-degree murder, two counts of Narcotic drug possession for sale, one count of drug possession equipment for manufacturing, one count of Narcotic drug-manufacture, two counts of possession weapon by a prohibited person, one count of theft credit card, one count fraudulent use of credit card, and one count of abandonment/conceal dead body/parts.

“This is another example of great investigative work by our detectives,” said Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone. “And why our FATE Unit is such a crucial component for public safety in the apprehension of these violent criminals from our communities.”
