Early Morning Shooting In Phoenix Leaves Woman Dead

Phoenix police are investigating an early morning shooting that left a woman dead and
detectives searching for the suspect.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on July 7, 2023, around 7:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located 31-year-old Stephanie Ellico, with a gunshot wound.

Ms. Ellico was transported to a local hospital where she did not survive her injuries.

Detectives believe that Ellico was involved in an altercation with 31-year-old Christian Ball during which Ball was cut with a bladed instrument. Several minutes later Ball produced a firearm and shot Ellico resulting in her death.

Ball was located by Phoenix Police and arrested. He was subsequently booked on weapons charges related to him being a prohibited possessor. Additional charges related to the homicide investigation will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.
