Phoenix police have identified the victim of a shooting at a north valley apartment complex as 16-year-old Antawn Haynes.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on July 7, 2023, around 10:35 a.m., officers responded to an apartment complex located at 844 East Bell Road regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located Antawn with a gunshot wound. Antawn was transported to a local hospital where he did not survive his injuries.
Detectives believe that Antawn’s adult brother was in possession of a handgun when the Antawn grabbed him causing the handgun to accidentally discharge. The adult brother was released from the scene after being interviewed.
