Woman Dead, Man Hospitalized After Apparent Road Rage Incident In Phoenix

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in a north Phoenix apartment complex parking lot after a mobile fight occurred between the occupants of two separate vehicles.

According to the Department, a man and a woman were struck by the gunfire; the woman later died from her injuries at the hospital.

Officers were dispatched to a call of a shooting at an apartment complex near 32nd
and Vogel Avenues. When they arrived, officers found a man and a woman on the ground with gunshot wounds. The man told officers they were followed by a passenger car into the apartment complex after the vehicle was tailgating them. The man said his passenger, later identified as 29-year-old Alyssa Leonard, got out of the car and an occupant of the suspect vehicle opened fire and struck both of them.

Leonard and the man were rushed to the hospital where Leonard later died from her injuries. The man was stabilized and currently recovering at the hospital.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness if they wish to remain anonymous.
