Who to Blame?

Many Democrats are befuddled by the increase in voter support and donations for Donald Trump as the charges against him increase. They would like to know who to blame for the apparent failure of criminal indictments to challenge support for the former president. The answer to their query is found by looking in the mirror. Foolish decisions by Democrats have led to President Trump’s ability to flourish in an environment which should be reducing his political success.

In 2016, the Democratic party put forth the one nominee for president who could be defeated by Donald Trump. Starting on the day he was inaugurated; Democrats began to plot his removal from office. They believed that the Mueller Report would provide proof that President Trump should be removed, this effort failed.

Democrats tried two impeachments, both leading to acquittal. Did they not understand that there would not be 60 U.S. Senators who would vote President Trump guilty, despite a massive amount of evidence? Did Democratic leadership examine the history of the trials of Donald Trump? Using expensive lawyers and delays, Trump had not suffered a meaningful loss in court.

Consider that the current criminal indictments require 12 jurors to find him guilty, which means that one Trump supporter who survives the jury selection process can vote to acquit, leading to a hung jury. His supporters claim that all the indictments are politically motivated, so they refuse to listen to the massive amount of evidence which has been made public. Remember that the New York District Attorney who indicted Trump, ran for office proclaiming that if he were elected, he would get Trump. That demonstrates the lack of serious planning.

Will Democrats continue to make poor decisions that will enhance the former president’s electability? One serious suggestion for the Democratic leaders: consider replacing Kamala Harris on the 2024 ticket? With President Biden being 82 on election day, Republicans can point to the VP and ask, “Is this who you want as commander-in-chief? Promise her a seat on the Supreme Court, but get a replacement who would be more acceptable as president in the event of Biden’s health failing. If Donald Trump is inaugurated as president in January 2025, the only ones to blame with be the Democrats.
