A woman is dead after being hit by an SUV while she was jaywalking on Monday night near Indian School Road and 75th Avenue.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on August 14, 2023, at about 9:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision. When officers got to the scene, they found the woman suffering from critical injuries. Phoenix Fire responded and took her to a hospital where she did not survive her injuries.
Detectives learned that the pedestrian was crossing 75th Avenue outside the crosswalk when she was hit by an SUV driving north on 75th Avenue from Indian School Road.
The driver of the SUV left the area and was followed to a house near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road where he was witness going into the house. Officers secured the house and were able to contact a teenaged male who was identified as the driver of the SUV.
Detectives have recommended the juvenile for charges of leaving the scene of a fatal collision.
