Some Scottsdale Students Arrested For Fights, Robbery Eligible For Restorative Justice

Scottsdale Police have arrested 12 juveniles stemming from fights and other acts of violence involving a group of students from Mohave Middle School and Saguaro High School last month.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, the incidents occurred after school and off campus. Multiple interviews were conducted and numerous videos had to be reviewed before the suspects could be positively identified and arrested.

Five juveniles were arrested for their involvement in a physical fight that occurred after school on Friday, August 18, in the Bashas’ parking lot located at McDonalds Drive and Granite Reef Road.

Four juveniles were arrested for robbing another juvenile in the late afternoon hours on Friday, August 18 at Fashion Square Mall. They were involved in the earlier fight at the Bashas’ on the same day.

Some of the students arrested for the August 18 fight at the Bashas’ were eligible for and have been referred to the Restorative Justice Program.

Three juveniles were arrested for assaulting another juvenile after school on Monday, August 21 at the McDonald’s located at McDonald Drive and Granite Reef Road.

Criminal charges are not filed with the court pending the juvenile defendants’ successful completion of the program requirements.

Scottsdale Police School Resource officers and detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit worked together on these cases. No one was seriously injured in these incidents.
