Elderly Man Killed In Head-on Collision

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a central Phoenix collision that left an elderly man dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on October 2, 2023, around 4:15 p.m. officers responded to the area of 19th Avenue and Virginia Avenue regarding a two-vehicle collision. When officers arrived, found 72-year-old William Davis with serious injuries. Mr. Davis was transported to a local hospital, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe that Davis was travelling northbound on 19th Avenue, when for unknown reason, he drifted into oncoming traffic at which time he collided with the second vehicle involved.

It is not known if impairment was a factor in the collision.
