A second victim of a collision that occurred on October 16, Roberto Pedro, died while being treated at the hospital in the early morning on October 18, 2023.

Phoenix Police are investigating the fatal vehicle collision that happened near 40th Street and the 202 Freeway.

When officers arrived on the scene of the accident, they found a white passenger vehicle and a gray SUV in a landscaping area just off the intersection. The fire department was on scene and was providing medical aid to three occupants of the white vehicle. Officers located the driver of the SUV who was able to get out of the car after the collision.

The fire department transported all four individuals to the hospital. One of the occupants in the passenger vehicle, 19-year-old Jade Pedro, later died from her injuries at the hospital.

The third occupant of the passenger car and the driver of the SUV were treated and released.

Detectives have identified 49-year-old Roberto Pedro, as the driver of a white passenger car.

Detectives believe the SUV ran a red light while heading eastbound on the 202 Freeway access road and collided with the passenger car that was heading northbound on 40th Street. Impairment appears to be a factor involving the driver of the SUV.
