Scottsdale Unified Governing Board To Consider “Common Sense” Bathroom Policy

Scottsdale Unified School District parents and their supporters are calling on friends and neighbors to join them at Tuesday’s School Board meeting to weigh in on the district’s bathroom policy.

Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) Board member Carine Werner has proposed what her supporters say is “a common-sense restroom policy for the district” that some political operatives are trying to “politicize and sabotage.”

Werner’s policy is written with the intention of protecting any student who needs reasonable accommodation and requires parents to sign a request form for the accommodation.

Werner argues that having a stated district policy would simplify issues for every school, avoiding confusion and respecting every student’s needs.

Arizona Women of Action’s (AZWOA) Director, Kim Miller, was on the Seth Leibsohn Show to explain why all parents, kids and students should care and take action.

Miller says the policy is important because it allows parents to be involved in their children’s lives. Miller believes the SUSD vote is “significant vote and will set precedent because most of Arizona’s school districts have no official bathroom policy.

Miller is calling on concerned citizens to email SUSD Board members in support of Werner’s policy.
