Arizona State University has canceled a speech by pro-Hamas Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. The university cancelled the event in the wake of broad bipartisan opposition.

The Arizona Palestine Network, host of the event, continued after the cancellation, with Tlaib calling in her appearance.

In response to the news of the cancellation, Arizona State Sen. Anthony Kern tweeted:

So @ASU cancelled todays hate filled rant with terrorist @RepRashida.

Grassroots America/Israel supporters spoke and spineless @ASU found a way.

Gotta get your permit to spew your hate girl!! You should know that 😀

ASU released the following statement:

“Organizers of events using ASU facilities must be properly registered with ASU and must meet all university requirements for crowd management, parking, security, and insurance. In addition, the events must be produced in a way which minimizes disruption to academic and other activities on campus. The event featuring Congresswoman Tlaib was planned and produced by groups not affiliated with ASU and was organized outside of ASU policies and procedures. Accordingly, that event will not take place today on the ASU Tempe campus.”

The Young Democrat Socialists of America called on Tlaib supporters to email ASU attorney:

On Thursday, a bipartisan group of Arizona legislators, Representatives Michael Carbone, Alma Hernandez, Alexander Kolodin, and Consuelo Hernandez, called on Arizonans to reject Tlaib and pray for 3-year-old United States citizen with ties to Arizona, Abigail Edan, who is one of hundreds currently being held hostage by Hamas.
