Phoenix police detectives are investigating a serious injury collision that left one person critically injured and a family of five injured.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on December 4, 2023 just after 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a collision near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road involving an SUV and a Jeep. The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. The Jeep was driven by an adult male and occupied by and adult female and their three children. They were all transported to the hospital with various non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives believe the SUV was going west on McDowell Road when the driver lost control of his vehicle and went into the eastbound lanes and collided head on with the Jeep. Impairment is unknown for the driver of the SUV. There were no signs of impairment for the driver of the Jeep.
The investigation is ongoing.
